Construction of the Southern Railway standard brake van design was adapted in the late 1930s to use the distinctive SR 2+2 planking style, with alternating pairs of standard and narrow width planks.
This model represents one of these later vans which continued to be built into 1948 finished in the later SR brown livery with red ends and small size lettering.

An ideal companion for Dapols' Terrier locomotives and an excellent alternative to the similar BR standard design vans to add variety to goods trains.

80 years ago, six Fairey Swordfish torpedo bombers flew from RAF Manston to attack the three German capital ships Scharnhorst, Gneisenau and Prinz Eugen making a dash up the English Channel in February 1942. This heroic attack was doomed to failure and all the Swordfish were shot down without any damage to the enemy ships. Lieutenant Commander Esmonde won a posthumous Victoria Cross and only 5 of the aircrew survived.

The Class 143 Diesel Multiple Unit was part of British Rail’s Second Generation DMU fleet. Known as ‘Pacers’, along with the Class 141, 142 and 144s, the Class 143s were introduced by British Rail in the mid-1980s at a time when it was replacing its ageing fleet of first generation DMUs. Operating until 2021, this EFE Rail model depicts unit No. 143624 in Arriva Trains Wales Livery with a pristine finish.

Having been rebuilt with a conventional boiler and A4 style streamlining in 1937, the W1 ‘Hush-Hush’ continued to serve with LNER and later British Railways. Under BR the locomotive was renumbered 60700 and used to operate regular services out of Kings Cross to Leeds and Cambridge, remaining with BR until scrapping in 1959.

This Hornby Dublo diecast Flying Scotsman 100 years model features the locomotive as it would have appeared at the time it entered LNER service in 1923. Carrying the number 1472 the locomotive is finished in a beautiful gloss apple green paint which gives the diecast boiler a finish close to that that could have been seen on the full size locomotive. The model is powered by a strong 5 pole motor and features cab detailing including crew figures

Locomotive No.2573 'Harvester' was built right in the middle of the classes construction timeline. A North British Loco Company built version of the A1 Class, the locomotive would enter service in October 1924. The locomotive would be rebuilt to the A3 Class with haste, emerging as the upgraded version in April 1928. The locomotive would be renumbered 74 under Edward Thompson before becoming BR engine number 60074 on Nationalisation. Withdrawn on the 8th April 1963, the locomotive would sadly be scrapped before the end of the year.
Model features a diecast running plate and flickering firebox.

Locomotive 48518 as it was known in BR service entered service in August 1944 as the LMS locomotive 8518. Only a few years later it would have its number increased in line with its class as it entered BR service. The locomotive would work a career of almost 21 years before being withdrawn in July 1965. The locomotive would enter preservation, albeit briefly as it would go on to be used as a spares donor for the 6 other UK based 8Fs. The frames were scraped in 2013, and the boiler will be used on 48173 on the Churnet Valley Railway.

The 8F model is presented in its imposing black livery, perhaps more understated than its prowess would deserve. The model is fitted with tender pickups as well as an 8 pin DCC socket allowing the model to be operated on a digital layout if required.

The 88bhp Ruston 88DS is the 'big brother' to the 48DS, designed to be powerful enough to replace a small steam shunting locomotive.
Ruston 421415 was built new for the North British Distillery Co. Ltd, being delivered in March 1958 to their distillery in the Gorgie district of Edinburgh, around the period when the distillery was expanding to include the former Edinburgh Corporation Tramways depot. In 1973, the locomotive was donated to the fledgling Fife Railway Preservation Group, who located it at the Lochty Private Railway until 1994. 421415 has now been restored and wears the livery of the North British Railway.

The 88bhp Ruston 88DS is the 'big brother' to the 48DS, designed to be powerful enough to replace a small steam shunting locomotive.
Ruston 441934 was built new for chocolate and confectionery manufacturers Rowntree & Co. Ltd of York, delivered in April 1960 and joining fellow Ruston 88DS locomotives 421419/1958 and 432479/1959 as No. 3. In 1979 a new 0-6-0 locomotive was bought for the York factory and No.3 was transferred to Rowntree’s Fawdon, Newcastle factory until rail service there ended in 1987. No. 3 was passed to the North York Moors Railway for preservation, but in 2013 was quite fittingly acquired by two members of the Derwent Valley Light Railway and has returned to York, being named Ken Cooke in honour of a former Rowntree’s employee, a D-Day veteran and holder of the Legion d’Honneur.

The 88bhp Ruston 88DS is the 'big brother' to the 48DS, designed to be powerful enough to replace a small steam shunting locomotive.
Ruston 432478 was one of six Ruston & Hornsby 88DS locomotives built for the British Railways engineering departments, delivered January 1959 to the North Eastern Region Civil Engineers Department for use at the Leeman Road Permanent Way Stockyard in York. As well as working shunting duties at Leeman Road, 432478 also worked at the York Central Concrete Depot, which is now the site of the Railway Museum’s main visitor car park. The other British Railways Ruston 88DS
432478 is painted in the early British Railways lined green livery as engineering departmental locomotive number 84.

2002 ‘Earl Marischal’ was the second P2 to be constructed and differed from its predecessor in a few key ways. No. 2002 was fitted with more conventional Walschaerts/Gresley valve gear which changed the locomotive’s characteristics substantially necessitating the instillation of large smoke deflectors, whilst the original front of the casing had its leading edge cut back 12”. ‘Earl Marischal’ entered traffic in October 1934 and soon began working Doncaster to Kings Cross trains before being transferred to Scotland in June 1935. It was later overhauled and streamlined to match the later members of the P2 class before being withdrawn from traffic and rebuilt as a Pacific locomotive in June 1944 having completed 360,907 miles as a 2-8-2 type locomotive.
