7819 – ‘Hinton Manor '
- GWR - Great Western Railway - Plain Green with GWR on Tender
- Original Chimney
- Flush Tender Body
- Narrow hornplates
Completed in February 1939 7819 Hinton Manor was sent to Carmarthen shed, likely working along the South Wales coast line to Fishguard and up to West Wales coast to Aberystwyth. The engine is noted as moving to Oswestry shed in July 1943 and may well have been working on the Cambrian section at nationalisation.
British Railways allocations alternate between Shrewsbury (Feb-Mar 63 & Jan 65) and Machynlleth (Mar 63 - Jan 65), still coving services onto the Cambrian route until withdraw from service in November 1965.
Sold to Woodham Brothers in May 1966 7819 Hinton Manor was purchased by the Hinton Manor Fund for service on the Severn Valley Railway in 1973, the 31st engine to leave the Barry scrapyard, and was returned to service in August 1977 and hauled mainline steam tours during the 1985 GWR 150th celebrations. Withdrawn from traffic in 1995 in need of extensive repairs for which replacement parts and funds are slowly being acquired.
