7824 – ‘Iford Manor '
- BR Unlined Black with large Early Crest
- Redraughted Chimney
- Flush Tender Body
- Narrow hornplates
Completed in December 1950 7824 Ilford Manor was sent to Worcester, one of the main division sheds and in February 1951 the new engine was allocated to Gloucester Horton Road. The engine did not stay long in the Worcester division, being reallocated to Plymouth Laira in August 1952 where 7824 remained, with a short transfer to Newton Abbot from July 1954 to January 1955 (possibly including attention in the works at Newton Abbot) until moved to Shrewsbury in October 1955. A year later in December 1956 7824 was back at Laira, then Penzance from January 1957 until July when the engine moved to West Wales at Carmarthen.
As an overhaul is likely after 7-8 years in service 7824 was probably repainted into a later British Railways livery by now, or around the time of returning to Newton Abbot in July 1959, before a more permanent move to the West Midlands and Tyseley shed in September that year. Withdrawn at Oxley in November 1964 7824 was scrapped by Cashmores.
