The 2nd WW as an auxiliary cruiser, landing ship and troop transport of the British Royal Navy The ship was returned to the Union Steamship Co. in 1946 and, after a two-year rebuilding and conversion period, was returned to regular service as a passenger ship from January 1949. The conversions included all passenger facilities, chimneys, loading gear, rescue equipment and the aft Mast has been removed.
