Argos 1/1250 AS-78 USS Turner Joy DD951 Forrest Sherman class destroyer 1964
A 1/1250 scale second-hand model of USS Turner Joy DD951 by Argos AS-78. These models are in excellent original condition having been displayed under glass since they were purchased new, see photograph.
Forrest Sherman class were the last general purpose, all gun destroyers to be ordered for the US Navy. Turner Joy was one of the last to complete in 1959 and the model represents the appearance of a typical ship from DD 936 onwards. The early ships were re-fitted to Charles F Adams class specification but escalating costs determined that the late production ships would be retired from active service from 1982 onwards.
