Bachmann EFE Rail N Gauge E87512 BR Mermaid Side Tipping Ballast Wagon Departmental Black
This side tipping ballast wagon design was produced by Metro-Cammell in the 1930s, with the ability to discharge the load to either side of the track. A batch being purchased by the GWR, typically they are used for base ballasting before relaying of a parallel track and spoil removal to a dump site.
The type was adopted as a standard design by the British Railways civil engineer in the 1950s with the addition of vacuum train brakes to the majority of the BR built wagons and assigned code name 'Mermaid'.
This model is finished in the common departmental black livery.
