CM Models 1/1250 CM118 Vaterland (II) a German liner to enter service in 1940/41
Vaterland (II) is a 1/1250 scale metal model of the transatlantic liner building in Germany when WW2 started in 1939. Work on the ship ceased completely when Germany declared war on the USA at the end of 1941. The ship is modelled as she was intended to be completed by CM Miniaturen, CM118, and is a fully assembled and painted model.
This model is on back order with CM but the delivery date and actual retail price will depend on a number of factors beyond Antics control but will be based on the date when the models arrive at Antics Warehouse in Gloucestershire.
When the UK and France declared war on Germany in 1939, work on Vaterland slowed to allow war work to be prioritised at the shipyard. The ship was launched and moved to the fitting out berth and some work was continued because the USA was still neutral andthere was hope of German transatlantic trade resuming when Britain had been defeated. Once war with USA had been declared, work ceased and the uncompleted hull was used for storage and Allied bombers ensured that the hulk became a constructive total loss by the end of the war in Europe.
