A panoramic photographic backscene of the Island of Hoy in Scapa Flow in wet and windy weather. The print is on matt photographic-quality paper, which should be mounted on artist's mounting board or similar, and placed behind waterline ship models on a baseboard.
The high resolution panoramic photograph was taken from the deck of a dive boat sailind along the coast of the Island of Cava looking towards the Island of Hoy in late Spring 2008. Lyness is to the left of the photograph and the exit from the Flow towards Stromness is on the right.This scene covers the stretch of water wher the German High Seas Fleet was interned, scuttled, salvaged and scrapped from 1918 to 1946. Royal Navy ships were moored here including Iron Duke as Base Ship and the Home Fleet throughout WW2 and ferries, dive boats and fishing vessels today.
