Baron Ailsa was built in 1936 for Kelvin Shipping, a division of Hogarth, for general tramping from UK to mostly Portugal and Spain. By 1943, she would have been re-painted in grey to comply with MOWT insurance regulations as modelled here but she ran into a mine in the North Sea and sank. There were four sister-ships in all and two of them Baron Cawdor and Baron Renfrew survived WW2.
