Coastlines 1/1250 CL-M519 Normandie, French Lines transatlantic liner in 1937
Normandie was the probably the most elegant passenger liner ever built and one of the largest and fastest in routine service across the Atlantic, She entered service in 1935 and captured the Blue Riband for the fastest crossing from the Italia Line Rex but lost it to Queen Mary.
This polyurethane resin model is made and painted in the UK by Coastlines Models, CL-M419, represents the ship before its first refit
During the refit, Nornandie had part of the open deck towards the stern enclosed to make a cafe with panoramic views, more suitable for passengers crossing the North Atlantic in Winter, and four-bladed propellers were fitted which increased her top speed to keep her competitive with the Queen Mary.
