1/48 Diecast "Spitfire Mk.Vb ""Flight Sergeant Donald E. Kingaby"" W3320, No.92 Sqn., RAF Biggin Hill, July-August 1941" Joined in April 1939 in the RAF VR ( Volunteer Reserve) by June 1940 he was a 20 Year old Sergeant Pilot with 266 Sqn, later transferred to 92 Sqn. He was dubbed by the British Press as the 109 Specialist, but as a NCO Pilot he was not named. In Nov 1940 he shot down 3 BF109 and 1 Damaged in a single day. Awarded the DFM ( Distinguished Flying Medal) normally you would be commissioned, but by this time he was taking part in the fighter sweeps. His scoring continued and he was then awarded another DFM as a Flight Sergeant, then 2nd bar to his DFM. Even as a Flight Sergeant, he was leading Officers into Combat, before the RAF Managed to commission him as a Pilot Officer in late 1941.
