Author Mikle Fenton has been researching the history of this GWR branch for nearly half a century. His 1990 publication received acclaim for the thoroughness and depth of the approach. Far from being the comple story of this 61/2 mile Wiltshire railway, it opened fresh avenues of research, elicited contact from folk with more photographs and memories and highlighted topics deserving of further attention. Intriguingly, it led Mike to interview many more people who had a story to tell. This work containing all new material is the fruits of a further thirty-two research.
