Navis Neptun 1/1250 221X Ibuki and Kurama, Japanese "Battlecruisers" in WW1
Ibuki and Kurama were a pair of cruisers which each carried four battleship-sized main guns in twin turrets fore and aft. When they entered service, they could equal the speed of the fastest battleships in the Japanese fleet and so could fulfil the role of the Invincible-class in the British Royal Navy, the Japanese re-designated these ships as Battlecruisers. Ibuki was completed first and had a pair of pole masts and Kurama was fitted with main and fore tripod masts.
Navis only ever made Ibuki, so Coastlines bought two and converted one to accurately resemble Kurama and then painted both models to match each other, see photograph. Individual topmasts have been fitted to represent the pair as they were in service during WW1.
