The Ford Motor Company first introduced the Ford Cortina in 1962 and the marque would go on for over two decades of highly successful and innovative motoring. The Mk3 was launched in 1970, technically a new car over its predecessors with a new look, longer wheelbase, larger interior and slightly increased width. It was also 4” lower, giving it a more sporty feel, emphasised even more with upgrades under the bonnet tool.
Here we see the Mk 3 from 1971 registered CRP 651K, decorated in a rich metallic brown with satin black ‘vinyl’ roof. Contrasting exterior trim includes the silver radiator incorporating the twin headlights. The four door saloon also features silver trim to door handles, window surrounds and bumpers. The interior is moulded with an ochre brown dashboard and matching seats and a black steering wheel. A final external detail shows the rear lights coloured red and orange, just like the real thing!
