Ford of Europe started manufacturing their Ford Transit in 1965 and the
vehicle has remained as one of their leading models over the years,
evolving during that time to clock up over 8 million sales to date.
Oxford's 1:76 scale replica of the first Ford Transit, the Mark 1, is registered
KLU 69D from 1966 and is decorated in the bright red colour scheme of a
London Fire Brigade support vehicle from that period. A tooling
modification sees the addition of a blue roof beacon centred above the
cab mounted on a silver and red base. The Brigade crest is printed on
both cab doors while the London Fire Brigade wording features on each
side in gold. The interior is completely black while the exterior sees
bumpers, wheels and wheel hubs finished in white. Much of the exterior
trim is sprayed black although the wing mirrors and door handles have
been given a silver finish.
It’s a great little fire support vehicle
to add to any enthusiast’s collection, particularly those of you who
specialise in London liveries.
