This Bedford MK represents a military vehicle used by the Royal Corps of Transport of the British Army, which was formed in 1965 as a result of the duties of the Royal Army Service Corps being split.  This 1:76 scale model follows the bright blue and yellow REME Recruitment Team vehicle which launched it into Oxford’s military series.

In real life, this Bedford was the 4x4 variant of the TK, which already features strongly in the Oxford ranges. The MK was deployed as the main medium British Armed Forces truck but was exported to many other countries as well.  It was first introduced in 1970 to replace the Bedford RL and  was very successful with over 50,000 produced. The MK/MJ was produced in many variants. From April 1981, Bedford changed the designation of the MK to MJ as the K multi-fuel engine was superseded by the J diesel engine.  The Bedford Dunstable factory was sold in 1987 to AWD and the MK restarted production for military purposes only. This ended in 1992 when AWD was put into receivership.

Dressed in British Army bronze green with muted green canvas backed trailer, our  Oxford replica  is decorated with the 12th Regiment’s insignia, registered 10 FK 65.The Vauxhall/Bedford famous griffin badge also features above the black radiator grille. The chassis, wheels and interior are all reproduced in bronze green and additional exterior trim is finished in black and silver.
