BR FM type covered box container to diagram 3/201.
The FM type containers were insulated and designed for carrying chilled meat and other pre-chilled produce.
Containers offered the ability to shift loads quickly between road and rail transport without reloading. Special container flat (conflat) wagons were built with tie-down rings for securing the containers, however containers were frequently seen being carried in conventional open wagons, secured with ropes around the wagon buffers and tarpaulin lashing points.
