Around 100 of the Vanwide design wagons were equiped with FAT suspension, roller bearings and air brakes, making them suitable for operation up to 60mph along with the new long type air braked vehicles. These short vans were often needed for traffic to and from older industrial installations and military sites, where track curvatures prevented the new, longer vans from entering.
This kit builds a model of one of these vans, possibly the last 'traditional' sized wagons in revenue service with British Rail. The kit is straightforward to build, the parts fitting together well. Separate suspension and axlebox units are supplied, making fitting and assembly of the chassis details very easy.
