Rapido Trains OO 903017 Hunslet 3715 Primrose No2 16in 0-6-0ST Saddle Tank Red As Preserved Embsay 1970s
A detailed model of the Hunslet 16in size 0-6-0 saddle tank engines built for many collieries and quarry companies with 44 locomotives built from 1923 until 1958. Many of these engines were supplied after WW2, so were still in use as the preservation societies started up, resulting in many being purchased in working order for a new life hauling passengers.
This model is finished as Hunslet works number 3715 Primrose No.2 in NCB red livery, as preserved at Embsay in the 1970s. This engine was built in 1952 for NCB Peckfield Colliery and was purchased in 1976, moving to the then Yorkshire Dales Railway at Embsay station. Primrose was one of the main engines in the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway steam fleet in until withdrawn in 1999 with a crack in the firebox. An extensive overhaul to prepare Primrose for another 40+ years service continues.
