A well-known locomotive Hunslet Engine Company works number 1953 was built in 1939 to work at the Nassington Ironstone Quarries near Peterborough, where it worked with another preserved Hunslet locomotive works number 1982 Ring Haw. (North Norfolk Railway). Both locomotives worked until 1970, the locomotives to work in ironstone quarries in England.
Jacks Green was purchased by the Peterborough Railway Society and moved to the Peterborough Sugar Beet Factory, the Society's base before the opening of Nene Valley Railway. Overhauled by apprentices at Peter Brotherhood ltd 1976-77 Jacks Green moved to the Nene Valley Railway shed at Wansford via the East Coast mainline and Peterborough station!
Withdrawn from service in 1987 Jacks Green is on static display at Wansford station, just three miles from the Nassington quarry with a cosmetic overhaul completed in 2020.
