Rapido Trains OO 917003 BR ex-GWR Loriot Y Machinery Truck DW41990 BR Departmental Livery
Designed for the carriage of machinery and other loads too tall to be carried on ordinary flat wagons the Loriot Y features a low central load bed and was often used for carrying tracked vehicles like bulldozers and crawler cranes. After nationalisation British Railways allocated most wagons of this type to the engineering departments, DW 41990 being for former GWR 41990 built in 1939 and finished here in BR engineering livery.
This Rapido Trains model features injection moulded and die-cast construction with separately fitted detail parts, metal bearings for smooth running, NEM coupler pockets and additional tie-down points to reflect key periods in these vehicles’ careers.
