Highly detailed model of Croda Chemicals Andrew Barclay fireless 0-4-0 steam locomotive works number 1944 finished in Croda Chemcicals white and green livery.
Powered by a high quality motor and drive mechanism designed to give good low-speed performance for shunting duties the fireless locomotive is an ideal industrial shunting locomotive for factories, paper mills, gas works and petro-chemcical industries, especially those producing highly flammable or explosive products.
Built in 1928 for J&J Colemans' Carrow works this engine passed to the ownership of Midland Tar Distillers at Four Ashes, Wolverhampton in 1952, the works becoming Croda Hydrocarbons from 1975. This locomotive was still in use in the early 1990s and has subsequently been preserved.
