Rapido Trains OO 966001 SECR 65 Class O1 0-6-0 South Eastern & Chatham Railway Lined Green As Preserved
Highly detailed model of SECR class O1 locomotive number 65, presented in the SECR Wainwright era lined green livery, as carried by No.65 in preservation at the Bluebell Ralway.
Designed by James Stirling for the South Eastern Railway and later modified with a larger boiler these class O1 locomotives served on many branch lines into the early 1960s. Withdrawn in 1961 after hauling trains marking the closure of the Hawkhurst branch 31065 was retained for apprentice training at Ashford. Purchased privately in 1963 SECR 65 moved to the Bluebell Railway in 1966 and can be seen today in this highly decorative livery.
This Rapido Trains model has been carefully designed from archival materials including works drawings from the various phases of these locomotives lives and an on-site survey of No.65 at the Bluebell Railway. The chassis features a smooth-running mechanism, factory-installed speaker and sleak tender connection. and a warming firebox glow. The open cab interior has been fully detailed, completed with a firebox glow.
