Revell 1/32 03749 Messerschmitt ME262A-1a/U4 German WW2 Jet Fighter Kit
The U4 variant differs significantly from the standard Me262 due to the distinctive bulge on the bow and the protruding gun barrel. New tools: This kit is based on the proven Me262 model, but has been expanded to include specially newly developed parts for the bow section and the cannon. Large scale: In 1:32, the aerodynamic lines of the "Schwalbe" design and the technical details come into their own. Challenge Level 5: With 220 individual parts, this model is a challenging project that requires experience in gluing and painting as well as patience. Detailing: Look forward to a finely crafted cockpit, detailed Jumo engines and an authentic chassis.
The Messerschmitt Me262 made history as the world's first operational jet fighter. But this special variant takes the myth one step further. With the Me262A-1a/U4 kit you get one of the most extraordinary experimental designs of the Second World War on your craft table. The special thing about this model in the impressive 1:32 scale is the armament: instead of the usual four machine cannons, the barrel of a huge 50 mm cannon protrudes from the nose. Thanks to new components (“New Tools”), you can now precisely recreate this rare version. The abbreviation "U4" stands for a conversion kit that was intended to turn the Me262 into a "pulk destroyer". The aim was to fight Allied bomber formations from a safe distance (out of the reach of the defensive gunners). For this purpose, the 50 mm Mauser industrial cannon MK 214 A was installed in the bow. Only a few prototypes were built and tested. One of them, the "Wilma Jeanne", fell into the hands of US troops. This model captures exactly this experimental spirit of aviation history.
