The F-22A Raptor originated out of an invitation for tenders in 1984 in which the American Air Force sought a replacement for the F-15 Eagle. Two aircraft achieved the final of the ATF (Advanced Tactical Fighter) program: the Lockheed YF-22A and the Boeing YF-23A. After comparison flights in 1991 the YF-22A whose prototype contract was awarded in 1986, was declared the winner by the American Air Force (USAF). . By Order of the Pentagon, every unit of the USAF is permitted to paint one of its aircraft in a special livery it is normally the aircraft flown by the Commandant. With this construction kit of the F-22A Raptor from REVELL, it is possible to construct an aircraft with the livery of the Commander of any current F-22 unit.
