Alaunia was built by William Hamilton & Co., Port Glasgow and with her sister Andania ransailed regularly from Glasgow, Liverpool and London to US ports in the Gulf of Mexico includingNew Orleans, Galverston, Houston, Mobile, Tampa, Corpus Christi, Panama City, Pensacola & Brownsville. In 1969, she was transferred to Brocklebank line on charter and under the name Malancha worked from UK to India. By 1973 she was employed in general tramping and spent the next 20 years in Chinese ownership before scrapping in 1993.
