The SS-100, which was a veritable workhorse for German forces during WWII. Powered by a 100hp 8,553cc diesel, it was based upon a civilian vehicle design and could pull loads of up to 20 tons. The SS-100 was put to work towing all sorts of subjects including artillery pieces, aircraft, and even V2 rockets, as well as recovering broken down vehicles.
As a part of its motorization from the years leading up to WWII, the German military took on the SS-100 - a heavy tractor based upon a commercially-developed agricultural vehicle. It was a workhose with a towing capacity of 20 tons, thanks to its highly reliable 6-cylinder water-cooled engine. Deployed by the German Army, Luftwaffe and Navy, the SS-100 towed all manner of subjects: field guns, aircraft, fuel and water tanks, V2 rockets, and even disabled vehicles, its versatility and reliability standing it in good stead.
