The complexities of modern signalling systems often requires a larger building to house the equipment required to connect, work and monitor junctions and level crossings than the familiar aluminium lineside cabinets.
This kit makes one of the semi-portable buildings now favoured by railway companies, as the equipment can be prepared, installed and tested at workshops. The building can then moved to site and quickly connected up as part of a larger planned line maintenance closure.
These units are also used as temporary staff mess rooms and workshops close to work sites on longer projects.
