One of the most powerful fighting ships of her day, HMS Prince, or the Royal Prince as she was sometimes referred to, was a 100-gun ‘first rate’ ship of the line and the initial flagship of the Lord High Admiral of the Royal Navy, the Duke of York. Launched in December 1670, she was never too far away from significant naval actions, suffering damage on several occasions and having to undergo rebuild at least twice. This spectacular ship from the golden age of sail was eventually broken up in 1813, at the end of an impressive service career. Luckily, you can now rebuild her, thanks to this exciting Airfix model kit. This 1:180 scale sailing ship model kit is part of our Vintage Classics range.

Its famed action against the German Pocket Battleship Graf Spee in the South Atlantic gave Britain a boost against all the defeats of that year. Known as the Battle of the River Plate British Ships Ajax, Exeter and Achilles forced the German ship to seek sanctuary in Montevideo harbour and when refused more time for repairs the ship was scuttled just outside. Detailed 1:600 scale plastic model kit of the German WW2 Kriegsmarine Deutschland class Panzerschiff cruiser Admiral Graf Spee.
A large cruiser armed with six 28cm/11in naval guns in two turrets the 16,0000ton Admiral Graf Spee was larger and more powerfully armed than a heavy cruiser (10,000tons with 8inch guns) and at 28.5 knots fast enough to disengage if confronted by more heavily armed battleships. Admiral Graf Spee operated as a commerce raider in the South Atlantic and Indian oceans following the outbreak of war between German and the British empire, her out-fight or out-run combination gaining her soubriquet 'pocket battleship' from the Royal Navy cruiser forces sent to hunt her.
