Antics Commissioned Model - Fred Watkins Iron Ore and Colour Works, Coleford wagon number 35Richard Watkins leased the New Dunn Pit iron mine near Sling in the Forest of Dean circa 1887 and it seems in addition to iron ore the ores won were used to produce pigment, a Colour Works being established at the pit site. By 1921 the works was in the ownership of Fred Watkins who also developed an engineering works. Wagon number 35 is one of a several wagons seen in the one known view of Fred Watkins wagons outside the pit and colour works.
