Dapol OO 4F-071-A02 Fred Watkins Iron Ore and Colour Works, Coleford 7 Plank Open Wagon 35 Antics Special Edition
Antics Commissioned Model - Fred Watkins Iron Ore and Colour Works, Coleford wagon number 35Richard Watkins leased the New Dunn Pit iron mine near Sling in the Forest of Dean circa 1887 and it seems in addition to iron ore the ores won were used to produce pigment, a Colour Works being established at the pit site. By 1921 the works was in the ownership of Fred Watkins who also developed an engineering works. Wagon number 35 is one of a several wagons seen in the one known view of Fred Watkins wagons outside the pit and colour works.

Antics Special Edition Dapol OO Gauge 7 Plank Open Wagon Lettered Buchanan (Gloucester) Ltd in later arc style.We have ordered the Buchanan (Gloucester) Ltd wagon with delivery planned for late Q2 2023.W.L.Buchanan built up a small fleet of wagons based in the docks at Gloucester, most likely bringing in coal and returning with loads on imported timber. Initially the company name was signwritten diagonally, but this later view shows a wagon after the formation of the limited company with the company name displayed in an arc.

Antics' currently available and on-order specially commissioned model railway wagons in OO gauge. Wagons from the areas around our shops, principally Gloucestershire and the Stroud valleys, have been chosen. This allows a mix of colourful and decorative liveries to be presented, while many of the wagons would have been seen together en-route to and from collieries or destinations. The number produced of any one wagon is quite small, not exceeding 300 with some models only half.

We welcome suggestions for future models, ideally a photograph is required to allow the livery to be recreated.
