This model depicts Harrier GR.3 XZ997 coded "32" which served with No.1(F) Sqd RAF, based at Wittering, Cambs. During the Falklands War Harriers were flown to Wide awake on Ascension island, refuelled by Victor tanker aircraft, XZ997 was among them, and flew there on 4th May 1982 . Piloted by Sqd. Ldr. Ivenson and subsequently Wg. Cdr. Squire. To commemorate its efforts in the Falklands war, this actual aircraft has been preserved and is on display in the RAF Museum at Hendon, London.
