Surely one of the most impressive sights any human can ever hope to see is the awe-inspiring launch of a mighty rocket spacecraft, be that in person, or more likely, on our TV screens. Following the success of NASA’s Apollo program, their next phase in space exploration was to develop a partially reusable, low-earth orbital space transportation system to allow more astronauts to travel into space by further extending the boundaries of engineering excellence. 

If there’s one machine which underlines man’s mastery of technological innovation and ability to overcome insurmountable challenges, then it's the Saturn V rocket series. It was the largest and most powerful flying machine the world had ever seen when it made its first test launch in November 1967. A super heavy-lift launch vehicle developed by NASA in support of their Apollo program and America’s desire to place human beings on the moon in the 1960s and 70s, everything about the Saturn V was incredible, from the immense power of its launch sequence to the graceful way it pierced earth’s atmosphere and onwards into space. The Saturn V stands tall as one of the great engineering achievements of the 20th century.

Allowing a new generation of the earth’s population to witness the development and achievements of a NASA space program, the Space Launch System is their latest and most powerful rocket launch system, intended to take mankind to the moon and beyond. The latest generation of super-heavy-lift launch vehicle, to the uninitiated, SLS and the Orion spacecraft capsule almost appears to be a combination of Apollo and Space Shuttle technologies, however, this incredible program represents the pinnacle of engineering technology taking man deeper into space than ever before. Blasting off for an unmanned maiden launch on 16th November 2022, the first manned launch is planned for 2025, when the Orion capsule will embark on a lunar flyby.
