Coastlines 1/1250 CL-SA09 USS Oklahoma, BB37, capsized, Pearl Harbor 1941/42
During the Japanese attack on the US Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor in December 1941, Oklahoma was moored outboard on the double line of warships on Battleship Row. Hit by more than 4 torpedos, she capsized and sank on her mooring. The painted resin model shows the upturned hull as she came to rest with her superstructure resting on the seabed.
The battleships facing the South East Loch were the first target of the Japanese torpedo bombers. Counter floodind and shallow water enabled the USS West Virginia to settle on the bottom upright but Oklahoma rotated by over 160 degrees during sinking. The wreck was righted by parbuckling and pumped out and re-floated. She set off under tow to be repaired in the US but sank under tow in the Pacific on the way.
