An underwater hull to suit a United States Pennsylvania-class battleship at the outbreak of WW2.This is one of a series of underwater hulls to fit 1/1250 scale warship models , ask for details of other models that have been made.The Neptun battleship model and the floating drydock are not included in the price.
New for 2015!Built in Sunderland, Co. Durham, in 1898 as a collier, the SS Joseph Holland, she was aquired by the US Navy during the Spanish American war as an auxiliary cruiser. She bombarded Spanish positions at the Battle of Fajardo. She remained in service after that war as a collier but in 1911 joined the survey squadron and undertook work for the opening of the Panama Canal.In 1917, she undertook patrol work in the Atlantic and in 1918 became a tender for submarine chasers in Plymouth (UK). On returning to USA, she was re-designated a miscellaneous auxilliary, AG 1 (as modelled).Deuring WW2, she was based on a de-gaussing range in Chesapeake Bay and from March 1945-1966 was used as a bombing target. American Mariner was sunk next to Hannibal as a new target from 1966 but the name Hannibal is still used!
