American to WW2

USS Independence is a second-hand, 1/1250 scale, waterline metal model of the lead ship of a cruiser conversion to a light carrier. The model was made as a Neptun model by the famous Navis Neptun Company in Germany, catalogue number 1311. This model is in excellent condition, see photograph.

USS Commencement Bay is a second-hand, 1/1250 scale, waterline, metal model of the American Escort Carrier in 1945 by Navis Neptun 1320. This model is in very good original condition for a model that was made 25 years ago (see photograph).

This model has a monogram "HF" and "2000" on the underside at the bow. It seems that Neptun, in the year 2000 decided to acknowledge that the master model had been built by Helge Fischer. 

USS Gearing is a second-hand, 1/1250 scale, waterline, metal model of USS Gearing made and painted by Neptun in Germany, catalogue number 1360A. Essentially a stretched Sumner type, both classes continued to give long and active service in post war years in various guises (see the Fram conversions) and in many Allied navies.
This model is in very good condition. The casting is sharp and the painting overall is to a good . There is a small area of the mast with a blemish in the paintwork, more marked on the port side facing the camera (see photograph).

LST 2 is a second-hand, 1/1250 scale, waterline, metal model of a landing ship designed to beach on an enemy shore and unload heavy equipment, such as full sized heavy tanks, to support troops who had already landed from smaller landing craft. This highly detailed model was made by Neptun in Germany and is a superb example of the famous model makers at the peak of their reputation, see photograph.

These "Large Slow Targets" saw service with most of the Allied Navies during the European Landings.

A 1/1250 scale second-hand model of USS Maryland in the 1920s before aircraft catapults were fitted modified from a Navis 300N model. This model is in very good condition, see photograph.

USS Blenheim, a 1/1250 scale waterline model of an armed transport in 1942 by CM Miniaturen CM-P1106

A 1/1200 scale secondhand model which appears to be a much modified metal model of USS Wyoming. The hull is probably by Superior, the guns come from other metal models and the superstructures are a mixture of components and scratch built parts. The end result is effective and the model would benefit further by some extra detail painting. See photograph.

A superdetailed model of the old armoured cruiser (ex-New York, ex- Saratoga) in her later years. She was scuttled in the entrance to the channel to delay the Japanese advance into the Philippines in 1942.

A 1/1250 scale metal model of USS Rigel as a destroyer depot ship in 1938 rig. Built for the US shipping board in 1918 and converted to AD.13 in 1922 home ported in San Diego. She was under conversion to a base repair ship at Pearl Harbour without superstructure when the Japanese attacked and she was slightly damaged but completed in February 1942 as AR.11 Rigel

Built in 1919 for the Atlantic Fleet, she was transferred to the Pacific Fleet in 1922. In 1933, she was struck by the biggest rouge wave ever recordered (112ft or 34m). In December 1941, she was at Pearl Harbor (undamaged during the Japanese attack). After two trips to Bora-Bora, she spent the rest of the war on the Aleutians run. Decommissioned in 1946.

The Battleship USS Oregon, a veteran of the Battle of Santiago, was preserved as a war memorial after WW1. After the Pearl Harbor attack, she was offered back to the Nation for further service.

The battleship USS Utah had been de-militarised under the terms of the Washington Treaty of 1922 and became a Pacific Fleet Target Ship. She was at Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and was attacked and sunk by Japanese aircraft.

A 1/1250 scale metal model of Pelias AS14 a C3-cargo ship converted to a submarine tender shortly before the US entered WW2. Sistership to USS Griffin, Pelias is modelled in 1944 with many additional fittings and an extra deck forward compared to her sistership. The model is in overall grey.
