Dapol O Gauge 7F-073-009 Elizabeth Meredith Jones, Blaenau Ffestiniog 7 Plank Open Coal Wagon No.3 RCH 1887 3 Door Type
Detailed model of a 7 plank open mineral wagon built the the 1887 issued RCH specifications and finished as Elizabeth Meredith Jones, coal merchant, Blaenau Ffestiniog wagon number 3 in red oxide livery.
Elizabeth Meredith Jones was one of the small number of women coal merchants and clearly established a successful business which was still trading as coal and builders merchants in Blaenau Festiniog after WW2. A 1946 letterhead indicates the businesses was also a distributor of agricultural fertilizer, though the wagons would have been taken into the pool system at the outbreak of the war.
