Graham Farish N 377-875A SR 25 Ton Queen Mary Bogie Brake Van SR Brown Small Lettering
A detailed model of the Southern Railways' bogie goods brake vans. These vans were introduced to ensure the guard had a smooth-riding vehicle suitable for travel at the higher speeds of express goods and parcels trains. The commodious accomodations and enclosed verandahs were also appreciated by the engineers, who made good use of these vans as riding, messingĀ and equipment/tool carriers until the 1990s.
Several are now preserved and used to offer brake van rides during heritage railway gala days.
This model is painted in the Southern Railways goods brown livery, which has also been applied to a number of preserved vans.
Era 3 1922-1948 and preservation.
