A highly detailed model of the 35-tonne GLW oil tank wagons, the subject of the well-known Airfix/Dapol OO kit.
These long wheelbase wagons featured roller bearings and automatic vacuum train brakes, one of the first wagon designs to incorporate the features needed for increased freight train speeds and wagon payloads. Although quickly eclipsed by larger tank wagons in the oil business these 25-tonne wagons formed the first of the modern era block oil trains and remained in service for many years for oil deliveries to smaller distribution depots and small volume consumers, like BR traction depots.
