S C TOWNROE'S JOURNEY IN STEAM is definitely a 'Special' 'Special'! For those who may not be aware, Stephen Townroe was District Motive Power Superintendent at Eastleigh in the 1950s and besides being a professional railwayman was an enthusiast as well. His photographic collection in both colour and b/w was vast and extensive, covering numerous areas and topics in the Southern area. This is the first time a specific book containing the best of his images (the majority seen for the first time) has been available, added to which is information from the family archive definitely made available for the first time. 75% colour the collection starts in 1938 and moves forward to the late 1960s, predominantly steam, and often situations and occasions known only to somebody 'in the know'. A book that is certainly very different indeed. 120 sides paperback, art paper.
