Originally built as Colombie in 1931 for trade France and the French West Indies Islands, Colombie was laid up at Martinique in 1940. In 1942, she was seized by USA and converted to the USS Aleda E Lutz, a hospital ship. In 1946 she was returned to France and operated as a hospital ship for the French in Indochina. After modernisation and removal of one funnel she ran routes to the West Indies from France & the UK until she was sold to Typaldos in 1964. When Typaldos ceased trading, she was scrapped in Greece & Barcelona from 1970-74.
