LMS Jinty 3F 0-6-0 Tanks

The LMS 3F 0-6-0T shunting engine. The Midland Railway had slowly evolved their 0-6-0 tank engines into a highly capable design suitabel for shutning, branch, local and even suburban passenger service. Henry Fowler added a Belpaire firebox and adopted the 3F Jinty as the LMS standard shunting and local service engine with 422 built between 1924 and 1931, including engines for the Somerset & Dorset Railway.
Summer 2022 and the Jintys are finally on their way! Container expected to land early September, delivery to us expected mid-September (best guess w/c 12 Sept). Factory-fitted DCC Sound models will also available to order once more!

The Midland Railway had slowly improved their 0-6-0 tank engines, culminating in the Johnson 2441 class of 1899. LMS CME Henry Fowler added a Belpaire firebox and adopted the 3F Jinty as the LMS standard shunting and local service engine with 422 built between 1924 and 1931, including engines for the Somerset & Dorset Railway. The Jinty proved a very useful sized engine, capable of running at suitable speeds for local mainline and branch service with both goods and passenger trains. The engines could be found all over the LMS system, working as station pilots, shunting in yards, hauling local and suburban passenger trains and delivering the local pick-up goods. Many branch lines were served by 3F tanks as resident engines, or worked in with the branch goods.
The Dapol model is a highly detailed scale replica with careful tooling design allowing for many of the detail differences between individual locomotives to be replicated. The drive mechanism follows the successful pattern of Dapol's Terrier and 08 with a 5-pole motor and flywheel driving a gear train designed to give good low speed control and a realistically modest top speed.
