Parkside Kits O Gauge PS37 LNER 10T Fish Van Insulated Body Recessed Door Kit
After the Second World War more fish already chilled with ice was being landed. The railway responded with these insulated vans, being based on the standard LNER van, but with insulated bodies and double recessed doors. They lasted into the 1960s. Transfers for BR.
Supplied with sprung buffers, metal wheels and 3 link couplings.
These vans were built with long wheelbase underframes to make them suitable for travelling at passenger trains speeds, ensuring freshly landed East Coast fish was delivered rapidly to the London markets. However in typical LNER fashion the underframe was still wood, these wagons being an enlargement of the previous shorter fish vans, though now incorporating inside hung doors in place of the externally hung doors of the preceding late 1930s design, Parkside kit PS136.
