from the Parkside range.
Plastic kit to build a model of the LNER design 12-ton box van.
This design was built during the LNERs first decade. It had a wooden chassis and most were built without vacuum train brakes.  These vans were withdrawn  from service through the 1950s with a few still to be found in the early 1960s. Transfers to LNER and BR lettering supplied.
Supplied with metal wheels and 3 link couplings.

A plastic kit to build a detailed model of the LNER standard design cattle wagon fitted with vacuum train brakes for service in fast goods trains and also suitable for attaching to local passenger trains for rapid service to and from local stations.
Earlier wagons in this fleet were converted from 9-foot vehicles, but later ones were constructed on 10-foot chassis from the outset. All were on wooden chassis. Although cattle trade declined on the railways between the wars, many wagons lasted into the 1960s. Transfers for LNER and BR.
Supplied with metal wheels and 3 link couplings.

Transfers for LNER and BR. These finely moulded plastic wagon kits come complete with pin point axle wheels and bearings, 3 link couplings and transfers. This kit is supplied with pre-coloured moulded parts although painting can improve the appearance. Introduced by the LNER in 1937, later examples had all-welded bodies. BR also built some and uprated their capacity to 22 tons. Lasted into the 1980s, mostly in engineer’s use. Transfers for LNER, early and post-TOPS BR.
Supplied with metal wheels and 3 link couplings.
Intended to carry steel sheet or plates many sheet steel components could also be carried. The wagons proved versatile in service and often saw use as flat wagons conveying road vehicles and farm implements.

Detailed plastic kit building one of the North Eastern Railway 20 ton coal hopper wagons. The NER was one of the earliest builders of high capacity railway wagons, providing many of their stations and depots with coal drops to accept bulk deliveries. These wagons remained in service throughout the LNER era, with some examples still in service into the 1950s. The building of steel bodied hopper wagons from the 1930s, a programme accelerated by British Railways in the 1950s, allowed these wood bodies wagons to be withdrawn.

Detailed plastic kit building one of the LNER bulk alumina covered hopper wagons.
Developed from the NER coal hopper wagons a hood style cover was added, making the design into a covered hopper suitable for conveying alumina, a powdery form of aluminium oxide from which aluminium is extracted. These wagons were used for conveying alumina until replaced with newly built British Railways standard steel bodied covered hopper wagons (and similar privately owned wagons) in the 1950s.

Built for the North British Railway this is a typical Victorian era covered box van with wooden braced sides. Built between 1893 and 1903 these vans would have travelled widely across the British railway network, with some surviving until Nationalisation. Many box vans of similar age and design remained in use with the engineers as internal user stores vans into the 1950s.

The Railways Clearing House produced an updated set of wagon designs in 1923, modernising the wagon fittings to include now oil lubricated axle boxes. Widely adopted as the 'standard wagon' for private owners the 7 plank open wagon was selected by the LMS and LNER as their standard type for mineral traffic. Wagons to this design were also owned by the SR for mineral traffic around the Kent coal field and leased by GWR when additional capacity was needed In addition many private owners names appeared on the sides of these wagons, making this one of the most useful wagon kits in the Parkside range.

O gauge plastic model kit of the LNER standard design of cattle wagon.
915 of these cattle wagons were built by the LNER during the 1920s with wooden underframes. The kit builds a model of the unfitted type with Morton hand brake levers. Due to the wood underframe which often developed a hogged back profile and lack of train Vacuum brakes these cattle wagons were withdrawn quickly by British Railways after Nationalisation. The kit includes a movable interior partition and transfers for LNER lettering.

A finely detailed plastic model kit building a model of the LNERs early 'short' type brake vans with pressed steel lookout duckets.
Around 900 of these brake vans were built between 1930 and 1935, a development of the earlier design LNER brake van with pressed steel lookout duckets replacing the wood of the earlier design (Parkside kit 115). These vans lasted until around 1960, mostly remaining on former LNER routes. Transfers for LNER and BR liveries included.

This kit builds a model of the first LNER standard design of good brake van.
Introduced in 1924 the design was derived from the final GNR and NER designs and was designated by telegraph code 'Toad B', most identifiable from later vans by the retention of wooden lookout duckets. Built in Doncaster, 260 examples entered service, lasting until replacement British Railways brake vans entered service in the 1950s. Various modifications took place over the years, this kit best representing prototypes dating from 1928-9.

Parkside has built up a reputation for high-quality kits of the more rarer wagon types, and this one in particular will fill a gap. The kits contain everything the modeller needs except glue, paint and a few tools. Crisply moulded plastic parts, supplemented by metal wheels, bearing cups and three-link couplings, plus transfers.

In 1938-1937 the LNER built 2,000 Fish vans of this design. With a 12 foot chassis they were well suited for fast transit, either within a dedicated fish train, or as part of a passenger service, for which they were fitted with through steam heating pipes. They lasted into the 1960s. Transfers for LNER and BR.

Steam locomotives have a voracious appetite for coal and delivering this to sheds and depots in 20-ton wagons was more cost-effective than using small capacity wagons. The two sets of side doors helped the coaling crew to empty the wagons quickly when there was heavy demand.
This LNER loco coal wagons dates from the 1930s and features the more unusual cupboard style doors which were favoured by the LNER. These wagons were withdrawn in the late 1960s as steam locomotives were replaced steadily through that decade.

Parkside plastic model kit for the LMS/LNER/BR 21-ton Double Bolster Wagon.
Developed from the LNER plate wagon design these 21-ton capacity double bolster wagon were built for both the LNER and LMS. Later the design was adopted by British Railways as a standard type and around 2,400 were built in total. The last examples of these wagons were withdrawn in the 1970s, replaced by the new air braked wagon fleet. The kit is supplied with a pipe load, however the wagons carried a wide range of long loads including timber (planks) and lengths of structural metal sections. Two could be run together or with a low-sided runner wagon to convey loads longer than a single wagon.
Supplied with transfers for LMS, LNER and BR 1950s-1970s.

Plastic kit to build a model of the LNER design 12-ton covered box van.
