Slaters Plastikard O Gauge 7C012P MR/LMS Lavatory Third Class 6-Wheel Ready Painted Coach Kit (diagram 494)

This kit builds a detailed model of the Midland Railway design 6-wheel full-third class coach with lavatory  to diagram 494. These coaches were steadily downgraded from being the express stock of the developing Midland to the local and branch line service by the 1920s.

'Lavatory Stock' with toilets fitted in between the compartments was introduced for long-distance trains before the introduction of corridor stock. This ensures that some passengers travelling for many hours on the train had access to the lavatory, however often one had to chose the right compartment!
