Amati & Victory Kits

Superb models for those with time for an absorbing interest!

The Lady Nelson was used in the exploration of the coast of Australia in the early years of the 19th century, being the first vessel to sail eastward through Bass Strait, the first to sail along the entire eastern coastline of Australia, as well as the first to enter Port Phillip Bay. Lady Nelson was also involved in the founding of the cities of Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne and Brisbane. This good quality kit is the first resulting from co-operation between Euromodels of England and Amati of Italy. Everything required to finish the model is in the box, including a polished hardwood baseboard and turned brass columns for display. A rewarding wooden boat kit!

The kit includes laser cut frames for keel & bulkheads, and exotic wood strip for hull planking. Also included is the wooden deck planking, masts and spars, resin and wooden fittings. The instruction booklet is very detailed, taking you through every step of construction.

HMS Vanguard (or HMS Bellerophon or HMS Elephant!!). This 74 gun Ship Of The Line was Nelson's Flagship at the famous Battle Of The Nile on 1st/2nd August 1798. Nelson's Vanguard was designed by Slade (of Victory fame) and was one of fourteen 3rd rate 74 gun ships which formed the Arrogant class. The ship was ordered on 9th December 1779 and the keel laid down at Deptford on 16th October 1782. During this time, Britain was not at war so her build went ahead very slowly, being launched on 6th March 1787.

This superbly detailed kit from Victory Models has been designed and researched using the latest information and technologies available, making the kit very easy to build with no sacrifice to even the finest detail. As with all Chris Watton designs, the kit features many of his innovations, like the pre-cut gun port patterns (eliminating the need to laboriously mark out and hand cut each port), proper 3D panelling detail, ultra-realistic chain plates, a fully detailed upper gun deck, photo-etched window frames which can be glazed, easy to follow step by step instructions and drawings and even an optional sail set complete with very detailed drawings

The "Pinta" together with the Nina and the Santa Maria, formed the fleet for the voyage of discovery led by Christopher Columbus. She was originally lateen rigged with one mast square rigged (caravela redonda) but was refitted just 10 days into the expedition leaving just the rear mast lateen rigged. There are not many contemporary evidences on the two caravels, except for the few oblique references that can be found in a resume of Columbus Journal. Nevertheless two things are pretty sure: both ships belonged to the Pinzon family and at the very beginning both of them had lateen sails. Then during the first stop at the Canary Island the Pinta replaced its lateen sails with square sails. This operation, together with the substitution of the mast delayed the departure of four weeks. Columbus always referred to Niña and Pinta as the Caravels

The kit includes laser cut frames for keel & bulkheads, and exotic wood strip for hull planking. Also included is the wooden deck planking, masts and spars, resin and wooden fittings, cloth for the sails and flags. The instruction booklet is very detailed, taking you through every step of construction.

The last thing a clipper ship, loaded with tea and spices, wanted to see was a Chinese Pirate Junk, bristling with cannons. Kit includes pre-cut beech and walnut parts; plank on bulkhead construction; wooden and metal fittings; sail cloth with bamboo parts; plan and instructions. The instruction booklet is very detailed, taking you through every step of construction.

Dorade is considered the very first modern yacht. It appeared in Europe in 1931 at the Fastnet, sailed by the two Stephens brothers Rod and Olin. At first sight Dorade seemed to be too thin and delicate even though it won the Transatlantic Regata doubling Fastned first, all alone. In 1932 it won the Bermuda regata and in 1933 it defeated all participants the Fastnet. At that time the "Times" entitled it as "the smallest amazing yacht of the Ocean regata ever built."

Kit includes prebuilt ABS hull suitable to R/C; wooden inside structure; wooden deck and planking; brass and wooden fittings; photo etched brass details; cloth sails; plans and detailed instructions.

This marvelous reproduction of a ship of the line Grand Banks, now known and appreciated throughout the world. The construction of these offshore Yachts began in 1965 with an idea of a certain Robert Newton, who decided to build a boat made to measure for him. The development project developed from a working trawler, very widespread in North America in the area of New Foundland where the Grand banks can be found, hence the name of these diesel powered boats.

The kit includes glass fibre hull, with laser cut frames for bulkheads, and decking. Also included are the wooden superstructure sheets, brass and wooden fittings, resin details. The instruction booklet is very detailed, taking you through every step of construction. Due to the large hull, this model can be Radio Controlled.
