The two points supplied allow you to add sidings to your layout from the outset. Sidings let you shunt your trains, attach and detach wagons, or simply store one train while another train is running. The layout can be further expanded using Peco Setrack, or the similar sectional track from Hornby and Bachmann, all these ranges using the same rail and fishplate connectors.
A track plans book is supplied with the set, full of ideas and suggestions for interesting layouts. Base oval layout requires a space of 1626 x 991mm 64 x 39 inch.
Recently expanded this book is now full of ideas for layouts and track plans, all designed using sectional track, based on the Peco system which is fully compatible with the Hornby track range.Dozens of ideas are presented, ranging from realistic circuits to shunting yards based on prototype locations. Along with the layouts numerous hints and tips are provided, suggesting for example how to store spare trains behind the scenes. In many cases examples of scenery are suggested as a setting for the layout and trains by the use of buildings, ranging from city centres to industrial sites to countryside. This plans book is recommended as s ource of ideas for new railway modellers and experienced layout builders looking for ideas for new scenes.
Standard length straight track section, length 168mm 6 5/8in.Equivalent to the Hornby R600 and Bachmann 36-600 straight track.
Peco use quality nickel-silver rail, providing good electrical contact and long lasting performance.
Double length straight track section, length 335mm 13.25in.Equivalent to Hornby R601 & Bachmann 36-601 double straight track.
Quad-length long straight track section, length 670mm (approx 26 3/8in).Equivalent to Hornby R603 long straight track section.
This quad-length straight track section is ideal for creating long straight tracks quickly, for example when assembling long sidings, platform tracks and storage yards. The rigid Setrack structure helps ensure that straight tracks are easy to keep straight.
Peco Setrack track sections are fully compatable with Hornby and Bachmann track and are supplied with fishplates already fitted at both ends, ready for attachment to other track sections.
Isolating tracks are ideal for allowing locomotives and trains to be electrically isolated in sidings. This helps with storing trains and changing engines, as the engine which has passed the isolating track can be switched off, so won't move accidentally.
Standard curve section number 1 radius, 371mm (14 5/8in). 22.5 degree curve, 16 required to form a complete circle.Equivalent to Hornby R604 standard No.1 radius track.
No.1 radius at 14 5/8in is the sharpest radius available in the OO track range and the sharpest radius which smaller OO model trains can be expected to travel round without derailing. Many large models, including large steam and diesle locomotives, modern passenger coaches and long wagons will not successfully negotiate a curve this sharp. We recommend using small locomotives and traditional short 4-wheel wagons on no.1 radius circuits.Peco track uses durable and corrosion resistant nickel-silver rail for long lasting performance. Peco Setrack track sections are fully compatable with Hornby and Bachmann track and are supplied with fishplates already fitted at both ends, ready for attachment to other track sections.
Standard curve section number 2 radius. 438mm 17 1/4in radius. 22.5 degree curve, 16 required to form a complete circle.Equivalent to Hornby R606 and Bachmann 36-605 2nd radius curves..

Double curve section number 2 radius. 438mm 17 1/4in radius, 45 degree curve, 8 required to form a complete circle.Equivalent to Hornby R607 and Bachmann 36-607 2nd radius double curve tracks.
The larger number 3 radius is designed to construct a circuit around the outside of a circuit at No.2 radius, with the track spacing set so that two left-hand or right-hand points will form a cross-over between the two circuits. Larger radius curves allow trains to run safely at higher speeds without derailment.
Peco track is manufactured in Great Britain using quality nickel-silver rail which offers good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. Setrack track is supplied with fishplates already fitted and is compatible with the track supplied with Hornby and Bachmann train sets.
Double curve section number 3 radius 505mm 19 7/8in. 45 degree curve, 8 required to form a complete circle.Equivalent to Hornby R609 and Bachmann 36-609 3rd radius double curve tracks. Double curve sections allow ciruits to be created quickly with a minimum of joins between the curved sections. The larger number 3 radius is designed to construct a circuit around the outside of a circuit at No.2 radius, with the track spacing set so that two left-hand or right-hand points will form a cross-over between the two circuits. Larger radius curves allow trains to run safely at higher speeds without derailment. Double curves allow circuits to be contructed quickly with a minimum of rail joints.Peco track is manufactured in Great Britain using quality nickel-silver rail which offers good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. The standard points for most small/medium layouts, ST-240 (RH) and ST-241 (LH) points are compact, superior quality and drop in replacements for the Hornby equivalent. They can be easily motorised, either from above or below the baseboard with PL-10 under-track or PL-11 surface mounted point motors.
Setrack Y turnout with insulated frog. Both diverging tracks are curved in this turnout. Special curve ST-222 is required to create parallel tracks.Equivilent to Hornby R8076 Y point.
Radius 33 27/32in (859.6mm), angle 11.25 degrees, length 170mm (6 11/16in).Templates for Peco points are available from the Peco website.
We stock the equivalent Peco track section ST-231 and multi pack Peco ST-2031 3rd radius double curve tracks
Diamond crossing track section matches Peco Setrack and Hornby points.
Diamond crossings are used when one track crosses another at a junction. The crossing angle is set to the same angle as the track diverging from a point. Two ST-202 short straights are required to complete connection with other points and crossings along the diverging track.Setrack/Insulfrog points are insulated such that power of the correct polarity is available along the track sections forming each route. Fishplates are ready fitted and electrical contacts are good. Nickel-Silver rail provides long lasting performance.Templates for Peco points are available from the Peco website.
Hornbys' semi-flexible track has fewer cuts in the sleeper base providing greater regidity to the track while still allowing curves to be formed where required.Length 915mm (3 feet)Please note that flex track exceeds the maximum length allowed for Royal Mail delivery and will be sent by courier service.

Short straight track, length 79mm (3.7.64in.)A special straight section of track which is used to complete the connection of points and crossings, especially where a diamond crossing is used. The length is also suitable for equalising track lengths where longer points like the Hornby express points are used. This track section can be used to gain a small extra length in sidings where another standard straight will not fit in the space available.
Special short straight track, length 41mm.Equivalent to Hornby R610 and Bachmann 36-610 short straight track. This track section is one quarter the length of a standard straight and is sometimes required to extend a track to complete a connection when curved points are used to form a crossover. If you look at the Peco Setrack diagram the ST-203 can be seen at the right-hand end of the lowest straight track section where it joins the curve, allowing for the use of the curved point in this curve further to the right on the diagram.
Double curve section number 1 radius, 371mm (14 5/8in). 45 degree curve, 8 required to form a complete circle.Equivalent to Hornby R605 No.1 radius double curve.
Double curves are the quick way to create a circuit of track with a minimum of joints in the curves. Just 4 are needed to reverse direction at each end of an oval, with 8 forming a complete circle.
No.1 radius at 14 5/8in is the sharpest radius available in the OO track range and the sharpest radius which smaller OO model trains can be expected to travel round without derailing. Many large models, including large steam and diesel locomotives, modern passenger coaches and long wagons will not successfully negotiate a curve this sharp.
Half curve section number 1 radius 371mm (14 5/8in). 11.25 degree curve, 32 required to form a complete circle.
A half curve section is sometimes needed to realign tracks parallel, for example where a Y point is used to split a track into two tracks. We would recommend using a larger radius track if at all possible, as trains may not reliably cope with sharp changes in direction on this very tight radius track.Peco Setrack track sections are fully compatable with Hornby and Bachmann track and are supplied with fishplates already fitted at both ends, ready for attachment to other track sections.
Half curve section number 2 radius 438mm (17 1/4in). 11.25 degree curve, 32 required to form a complete circle.Equivalent to Hornby R643 and Bahcmann 36-643 half curve.
This half curve track has a number of uses, but the main one is to create a cross-over using curved points to link a no.2 radius circuit to a no.3 radius circuit outside of it. The ST-227 section fits between the two curved points to create the connection, as seen in the lower right corner of the Peco Setrack geometry diagram.Peco Setrack track sections are fully compatable with Hornby and Bachmann track and are supplied with fishplates already fitted at both ends, ready for attachment to other track sections.
Curved points allow for junctions and crossovers to be placed on the curves at the ends of layout ovals. The curved junction created in the crossover configuration eliminates the reverse curve created by the straight points, making the junction much smoother in appearance and for your trains. Half curve sections ST-227 are used to connect the points and track oval, special straight ST-203 unit may be required to compensate the slightly larger radius of the points' outer curve when rejoining straight track.Templates for Peco points are available from the Peco website.

Rigid track sections clip together and, with a carefully designed and consistent geometry a layout can quickly be assembled. Track is standard 16.5mm gauge using code 100 rail, the connectors and section lengths are interchangeable between Bachmann, Hornby and Peco. The system incorporates curves with up to four different radii, 2nd radius being the smallest radius suitable for all OO models and 1st radius suitable for sidings used by small shunting engines. We stock the Peco Setrack range which is manufactured in Great Britain using quality nickel-silver rail, offering good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance.
